Lightbulb DRL control

I tried asking a light question before so this time I will be more specific.

I recently purchased a 10 Tundra double cab 381Hp 4x4. So far it seems like a good truck. I took the truck back to the dealers as per the owner’s manual and had the teck adjust some features in the computer I could not. The one thing he said he could not or possibly would not do is turn off the DRLs. I want them so I can switch them on and off as needed!

My sons 10 Tundra 4x4 has a way of turning off those lights, but my truck does not have that option. I can put on E brake before starting and the lights stay off but as soon as E brake released they go on and stay on till engine is shut down. Does anyone out there know how to get those light under my control?

It would seem that the trick is to put a switch in line to the Ebrake circuit. Has anyone figured this out? I know it can be done as the 2 Corvette forums I’m on it was a big topic and a few good answers came out FOR THAT CAR!
How about it Toyota people!

Please check on TundraSolutions Forums.
They have many DIY treads there about DRLs.
Its sooooooo funny that some owners who have DRL don't want them, and the other way around....
I don't have it on my truck and I do find the usefullness on having DRL.
You get to be more visible without having to turn your lights on.
Maybe you just want to have control of it, or you dont like amber.....

Thanks I will try there.

I have a plow and that has 4 lights burning all the time. Plows use a lot of electrical power and having the DRLs off is a little help. I live in the cold & snowey area of upper NY and every little bit helps.

I have been driving since 1962 and know what lights I want on and when I want them. I got rid of a Chevy that you could just click-click the light stalk and have full driver control of the lights.

My C6 Corvette is the same way and you will never see the DRLs on as I prefer to be a bit stelthy as I have a heavy right foot.

i'm guessing here but your son must have a "limited" edition and you don't. You can control all kinds of stuffs on the limited version...while you can't do anything with the regular models...like dimming lights on the accessory consult etc.

kinda of retarded if you ask me...but what do i know.

My son did get a much more expensive truck than I did. I’m now retired and do not put on the miles like I used to. All my previous trucks (Chevys) were always highly loaded, but I do not need all that now.
I got a good truck, but not quite as good as he got.

Thanks, have a good day,
