TRD or NOT

could somebody tell me what kind lifestyle that is necessary in the justification of getting the TRD package. I hunt, fish pull a trailer or boat ocationally. The truck will be off the road sometimes, mainly during hunting season. Is the TRD a waste of money for getting off the main road every once in awhile? Will a Tundra 5.7 4X4 sr5 only kick the doo doo out of a chevy silverado Z71?

Tundra > Z71.

As for the TRD package, I would think you could buy some beefier shocks and have them installed for cheaper than the TRD package. So unless you want the decals, it might be better to save the money on the initial purchase and specifically upgrade the parts that you think will be the 'weak links'.

I went with the TRD specifically for the wheels and driving lights. Sometimes while boating in Tenn, I will end up driving thru some fields and brush, I wanted the shields in that case. I feel its worth it if you need the stuff. The stickers don't mean nothin'

The Silverado can come with a locking rear diff which the Tundra does not have.

I agree with the above poster, more or less they are appearance packages.

Sorry for the highjack, but along the same lines, anyone care to comment on the ride quality difference between TRD off-road vs std. I have similar needs to Bashlin, off-road driving once or twice a week, going to different gun ranges across the state. I would mostly use the truck as a daily driver, with freeway driving about 12 miles each way.
Thanks,
Jon
