Only Tundra grade and limited available now? =\

Hi all! I was planning to trade my '09 Tacoma TRD Sport in for a Tundra SR5 4x4 5.7L, but my dealer told me that the only two truck grades available are the Tundra grade and the Limited. He suggested that I check SoCal and other regions, but it appears it is the same in SoCal and the midwest.

Why would Toyota only offer these two grades? The difference in price is close to $10K, which is asinine, no? I'm not a fan of the transmission coming from the side of the steering wheel either. My brother has an '08 Tundra SR5 Off-Road 4x4 5.7L and the transmission is in the center console, which is what I prefer, and the interior is very close to the Limited's interior.

Does anyone know if they will offer more grades in the near future? I would love to have the limited, however, I can't afford it at the moment.. =(

Thanks so much! ;D

Look on E-Bay. They have several of them. They all seem to be in either North or South Carolina. Hope this helps you out.

They just changed the way you order. You choose limited or grade. If you choose grade, you can then add the SR5 package or the TRD off road package. I drove a new 2010 Tundra Grade w/ TRD Off Road 4WD, 4.6L V8 yesterday. There are several SR5, non-off-road Tundras available locally.

That is the one I drove. It has power bucket seats w/ laptop console, fog lights, bluetooth, and all that other jazz that isn't on the no option truck.

Here is one at another local dealer that is a Tundra Grade 5.7L 4WD w/ SR5 package and optional 18" wheels (I ran the VIN in the TIS at work and confirmed it has the SR5 package).

The Tacoma would be the same way if they had a Limited. The Limited and Grade are trim and SR5 or TRD offroad/sport are option packages.

Hi there. Thanks so much for your reply! ;D I'm actually confused now. Perhaps these options are not available on the west coast? So the truck in the pic above is the SR5? Did this one have the bucket seats and is the transmission in the center? I spoke to a "tundra specialist" and all they could tell me was that they removed the SR5 for marketing research. Whereabouts are you located? My dealer was unsure if I could "special order" the truck... He told me that if I wanted the bucket seats and the transmission in the center I would have to go w/ the limited. I am definitely going to show him this. Thanks a bunch!

;D

I don't see why the options wouldn't be available on the west coast. I'm in the mid-atlantic region (WV). The dealer should be able to order anything that is listed on the spec page of toyota.com, particularly since the factory is in Texas and not overseas. It is a much easier ordering process when everything is local. Check out the following link: http://www.toyota.com/tundra/options.html

The truck I drove had bucket seats and the shifter in the center console and it definitely was not a limited. It sounds to me like your dealer is trying to upsell you to the Limited to pad his wallet a little more. I'd go talk to a dealer that is willing to get you what you want.

No problem. Dad is visiting this weekend and we're going to drive the 4.6L that I drove on Friday. If all goes well, he'll have a new toy on Saturday.
