Special ordered truck

I threw this question out here back in August regarding a regular cab Tundra with standard bed and a V-8. Bamataco found me just the truck I wanted but they sold it the day before I called them. It was located in KS. Since then the above model is NO longer available in the 2011's unless you get the longer bed configuration which I do not want. My local dealer said that one can place a special order???? I don't really have much faith in this dealership but does anyone here know if Toyota would install a V-8 in this truck?

Japanese manufacturers typically package their equipment in a limited number of configurations. The don't generally build one outside of the standard options list.

Call his bluff. You never know. He might actually be able to do it... but I doubt it.

For 2011, the Tundra comes in 3 different Regular Cab, Short Bed configurations. 4.0L V6, 4.6L V8, Both of these are 4 x 2. They also have the 5.7L V8 in a Regular Cab Short bed, but only in a 4 x 4.

Special order

Edmunds wrongfully shows the Tundra regular cab available in many bed sizes and engine options. I e-mailed them and they agreed they were in error. These trucks are not being produced on normal production schedules. I went to the largest Toyota dealership here in N IL and was told that YES they can "special order" a Tundra regular cab, standard box or even short bed WITH A V-8. 2WD or 4WD, with a 2-4 month wait however. If one visits Toyota's website and tries to build a regular cab with standard bed and a V-8 one comes up empty. It must be due to few requests for a this combo now days. So the V-6 is a simple way to cut costs on the production line.
