New vehicle: Tundra or Highlander?

Hello all,
New guy here. This is a very informative forum and hopefully you all can provide me with some insight on my next vehicle.
After driving Ford F150 4WD for the last 20 yrs I am going to get a Toyota 4WD and am considering a base model Highlander 2010 or 2011 vs a double cab tundra 4.6L engine.
I've driven both and right now favor the highlander for most of my purposes however a couple of unknowns are performance in snow - I have a job where you cannot call of due to weather and northeast winters can get bad a couple days a year. So snow performance is one area I'd like to know about.
The other is gas mileage - what are you guys getting with your 4WD Tundra double cab?
Any other info you can give regarding these vehicles would be greatly appreciated. I'll also post this in the Highlander section to hear from the HL folks.
Happy Holidays to all!

My friend averages around 14 and 15 mpg with his 4wd tundra. If you don't need a truck, I'd suggest the Highlander

You are really kind of comparing apples to oranges here. The Highlander is a Camry on steroids and nothing more, as it is built on the same uni-body frame as the Camry is. With it, you get a comfy, quite ride but with a higher seating position than a Camry sedan. The Tundra is a truck, with a full truck frame & suspension, so the ride is no where near as refined, nor is it intended to be. As for mileage, the smaller V-6 of the Highlander will win by a few MPG. As for snow, both will pull adequately in the snow as is, or you can add some extra weight to the truck bed for even better traction.

If you need a truck, get the Tundra, but if you need a car but like the higher visability of an SUV, get the Highlander.
