Dealer installed blue logic vs factory installed

I just picked up my new 2011 Tacoma today. I wanted Bluetooth in my new Tacoma so I had the dealer install it before I picked it up. It works with the radio but I can't see how you store numbers and it's not mentioned in the separate bluetooth instructions but it is in the owners manual. Does the dealer installed version not allow you to store numbers and call them with voice commands like the factory installed version?

No, you can't store numbers like the factory system. It's basically a "receive calls-make calls" system.

Thanks. That is what I'm starting to fear. Even the dealer service people who installed it don't know. The only reason I bought it was for the capability to store numbers and dial them via voice commands. No where in any literature I saw in print or online did it say the dealer installed system did not have the full feature set of the factory system and they cost the same.

I'm going to tell them to take it out and give me my money back. I can get the same features much cheaper. I have a Motorola system right now that will answer the phone and play through the radio and it only cost me $50.

There ya go, sounds like you have it all worked out. I have the factory bluetooth in my Camry and it's widely known, at least at our dealership, that the Toyota aftermarket system is a POS. We all run from it when we can, haha.

Agreed. Blue Logic is terrible. The last time I sold one, it came installed from the factory on an LE Camry. Took me 20 mins to set it up, trying to figure out the series of beepings was rediculous. Customer came back and asked me to disconnect it a week later!

Lol! That's pretty awful. We do enough here that we can do the process quick, but most people end up hating it.
