(94 GMC Jimmy) I really want to have the money in my pocket for our next vehicle.

We are looking at a RAV 4. I will research this vehicle and test drive one soon. I also love the guys on Cartalk. I listen to them often. I will check out their site as well. I have met a fair number of RAV 4 owners who are content with their vehicle. They have not had major repair bills either with their vehicles. I have also learned to purchase a extended warranty on ALL the vehicles that I own from now on!

A question I have regarding our Prius is this: The dealer is fixing the engine so does that make the engine "new" again? I am not sure what type of "fix" they perform after a rod breaks in the engine. (I am not a mechanic) I know the steering unit is new since we bought a new one ($2K) in February '06. The rod left a four inch hole in the bottom of the engine block. Do they drop a new engine in it? I have not discussed this with the dealer yet. I will. We do not have the car back yet. Just wondering ahead of time what the fix entails.

Thank you for all your help out there!
a new shortblock is installed. all of the old accessories/ timing chain, oil pan etc is re used (depends on what the tech ordered to be perfectly honest). the head is reused. if a valve was bent, it will more than likely be repaired rather than replaced.
