Thumbs down www.ShopTRD.com Horrible Experience. . .

www.ShopTRD.com AKA USAToyotaParts.com AKA Toyota of Richardson

To make a long story short , I ordered some weather stripping from them for my 88 N/A MR2. This is the letter I wrote today to the BBB:

February 8th 2011 I had purchased an order for weather stripping for my 1988 Toyota’s removable roof ( Item numbers 6362717010 and 6362817010 ) from www.ShopTRD.com in the amount of $152.82. Immediately after the purchase I received a confirmation email that my order (order # *****) had been placed. Later that day I receieved another email stating that my order had been accepted. Scrolling down the email I saw a small comment box that stated :“One or more of the items you have ordered is on backorder. Generally backordered items take 2-4 weeks before they are shipped.” Before purchasing these parts there was no indication on the website that the part was backordered for up to four weeks before it could be shipped. Had I known, I would not have continued with the transaction. Unfortunately I was unable to wait that long due to daily rainfall and the immediate necessity of this part to keep rain water from pouring into my vehicle. When I called the company a man stated that I had to call the next day to speak with “Mark”. I called 2/9/11 and spoke with Mark who told me that my order had been successfully canceled. On 2/10/11 I received a refund in the amount of $129.90. They had deducted 15% from my original payment. As soon as I saw this I called Mark and asked him why this was so. He stated that there was a 15% Processing fee on my order cancellation. I explained to him that this fee should not have been applied to my transaction due to the fact that there was no indication on the website of any backorder on the parts, and that had I known, would not have purchased them. He stated to me that he felt that there was no need to put a backorder notification on the website because this item was not directly related to the drivability of the vehicle. I explained to him how untrue this was. With ineffective weather stripping, water pours into the vehicle resulting in a soaked driver and a build-up of moisture causing the vehicles windows to fog up ultimately leading to an unsafe driving experience. After giving him these details he stated that he couldn’t do anything and that “ I am just as much a slave to the system as you are”. After this remark, I referred to the return policy which stated :
“All claims and returned goods must be accompanied by original invoice. No refund after 30 days. 15% processing fee on all returned items kept in-stock if cancelled prior to shipment; 25% restocking fee on all items kept in-stock if returned after initially shipped. No returns on Electrical parts, Special Order parts, or Used/Installed parts. No exceptions.”
The weather stripping I had purchased was never in their possession and in return, not items “kept-in stock”. He continued to state that he could not do anything ultimately leading to an ended phone call. Not only was I inconvenienced by the fact that the item was backordered and not mentioned, but then scammed out of 15% of my credit back. This is not the way business should be done.

I tried going to my local Chase bank and they attempted to contact the claims department who wouldnt do anything to help get my money back...Its not the money but the concept...Just not the right thing to do...These guys are a joke...DO NOT BUY!

Sorry about your horrible experience, I can't anything about it, but what I can say is that I sell Genuine Toyota OEM Parts to TN members for 30% off MSRP and I charge actual shipping costs plus $2.00 for materials. I am a Authorized Toyota Dealership and a supporting Vendor on this site.

When you order something, you order it from me, not a generated computer program, etc. I'll let you know if something is in stock, available, or will back order. I don't charge restocking fee's or cancellation fee's.

The next time you need OEM parts, I encourage to shop around and then check with me. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Also, check around with the other members and see what there experiences have been like with my services. Any time you have any questions, or need any information, don't hesitate to contact me, I am usually in the forum just about everyday.

Yeah dude, I hear your pain. I'm sorry that had to happen. I had a similar experience ordering OEM parts for my dad's Acura RL. The site didn't tell me they didn't have the items I needed in stock. They called me a day after I placed the order and told me my items would be delayed an additional week before they shipped since they were coming out of Japan I demanded some kind of monetary compensation for not telling me that ahead of time. After 3 phone calls and speaking 2 different managers, I finally got a 10% refund.

On another note, Gary (Toyotapartsman) is GREAT, A+ OEM supplier. I order nearly all of my OEM parts from him. Great guy and honest service. I know this sounds like an endorsment or something, but I wouldn't say it unless it was true
