Just a warning to all you with Automatics, and maybe Manuals. I took my '93 Mazda 626 into the Mister Transmission near Markham Mazda (coincidentally, WHERE I bought the Japanese car that came with the FORD transmission)... it's on Laidlaw Blvd, off of Hwy 7, near McCowan. Anyhow, I paid $2600 for them to rebuild it. And damn, I got ripped off. By the way, the two guys who own it are named Ron and Dave... don't trust those scum bags.

After they fixed it, four months later, there's a leak! WTF?! So I take it in, they "fix" the leak... some hoses or whatever. Then two months after THAT, I check the tranny fluid just to make sure... there is NONE! So I take it in again, and the jerks say that they replaced some seal. It should be okay, right? One week after THAT, the transmission can't even take it through second without rumbling like crazy. I take it back again, Dave says he replaced the clutch. Okay, all should be okay. Now what? Not four days later, I'm driving to lunch, and the car's not even shifting into second! I had to drive like 20 below the speed limit!

So I think, well, I'll just take it in on Monday, since it's Saturday now. But I am pissed! But after I come out of the restaurant, lo and behold - the car can't even move! What the HELL?! I call Ron at Mister Transmission, and I arrange to have it towed there. Luckily, I was not far from that place. It's towed there... and those bastards have it for a whole week! I'm actually going to pick it up today, April 15th. And not only that, I have to pay $220 plus tax to replace some transmission cooler than didn't work.

All in all, it cost me nearly $3000 to get an automatic transmission fixed, plus countless days wasted, not having my car. I must've not had my car for at least one month in total! What the heck is that, eh?! What an inconvenience and a rip-off. New tranmissions only cost $3600, and used ones, $1500...

My advice to anyone is not to go to Mister Transmission on Laidlaw Blvd, near Hwy 7 & McCowan in Markham for any service. They rip you off and waste your time. It's inconvenient too.

Also, I'm never going to buy another Mazda again. Unless it's an RX-7... because the crappy FORD transmission they put into the car didn't even serve me well. Did I mention that my car was hardly driven and currently only has 68 000 kms on it? And when the tranny broke, it had only 52 000??? My advice, don't get a Japanese-looking car, when it's really an American under the hood. Don't get BANANA cars!!!

Hmm...they sound ok based on your story...they helped you towed the car without charging you, and also they brought your car in to replace the hoses and stuff... An AT rebuild doesn't consist of a tranny cooler, so if your tranny cooler failed, it wasn't their fault. From the sound of it, it didn't seem like they wanted to drag your time down on purpose... some parts do break in the long run, and they can't help it because their rebuild only covers "so much" of the AT transmission. However, they did take a long time to do the repairs... that you can bitch about, but the tranny cooler isn't really their fault (since a new or used tranny doesn't come with a cooler either, so the car will still be down no matter what).
