Looks good
Quick Q, I'm curious, how did you wire it into the original DRL? Did you just wire it directly in with the high beam?

when i first wire tapped into the o.e.m drl i saw that the leds were lighting up dim and when i turned on the high beam they got bright. so i used a relay but i wasnt getting enough power to switch on the relay, so i used a one way diode which allowed enough power to switch it on.

I've been looking to increase my back-up lighting. I'll have to look into doing something like this on the back.

What are the part numbers of these?

I would like to know how to do this! Possibly get a simple write up? I can build things out of wood but I'm not that great with electrical >_<

I'm not really good at explaining my work but I'll try later and maybe include some pics

The highbeam DRL weren't giving enough current to the relay coil (the DRL should have been just around 9v, the coil should only needs a few hundred mA to power it, unless Toyota is using PWM now for DRL's like Chrysler's, I don't know why it wouldn't work)? That is strange, I to am curious where you used a diode to trigger the relay.

I used a relay with a small capacitor so
My oem drls were dimming and the leds were blinking ,so where I wire tapped the power that's where I put the diode to send power to the capacitor which allowed enough power to kick the
Relay on ...hopefully that makes sense
To you

Ah, sounds like it is using PWM. So basically the DRL are the halogens turning on and off really quickly instead of a lower voltage (why the LED's were blinking, they don't have warmup times like halogens), looks like it is constantly on to the eye but isn't. So you used the cap to create a steady power flow for the relay and used a diode so the cap wouldn't feed back into the DRL circuit? (so Highbeam + > Diode > Capacitor > relay coil) Nice work

The DRL circuit does use PWM. You can use a similar circuit, adding a zener diode, cap, a few resistors, transistor and a relay to also keep the high beam lamp from coming on during DRL-only LED operation. Essentially, you detect when the high beam circuit goes from PWM to full battery voltage when you pull the turn signal stalk to activate high beams.

Ahhh technical terms ... Thanks I tired ... I just didn't want the LEDs to be on when I have my headlights and fogs on that's why I did it this way... Now I need a
New project I don't know what else to do

Or just disable the DRL's at the dealership, use a relay to power the LED's when a ign source is active, and another relay to break the circuit when the low beams come on. IMO a lot simpler than creating/soldering together that circuit you described AVConsult, or at least it is to me. Everything I try and solder tends to catch on fire at one point or another
That is weird though that they would switch to using PWM for 2011+. To my knowledge the DRL on mine aren't PWM, it always tripped my relay on my HID harness (before I diverted the DRL to the fogs) fine, and I always got a steady reading of 9.5v with my multimeter. Though I never did find a DRL resistor in the schematics/engine bay so it might have. Who knows...

Is it possible for LED to come on with the fog lights? I can't remember if fog light are part of DRL but is it possible?

DRL's

For my 2010 Ltd. HL Blizzard Pearl, bought DRL's from ebay for $95.00. THey are part of the fog light cover in chrome and snap into place like OEM ones. Had mine installed in a way that they funtion independently from the factory DRL's. I start the HL and they come on automaticaly. If I want, I don't use the factory DRL's. Below is the website if anyone is interested. Enjoy
