Neither my Highlander or Avalon have that ability. Got to admit, given the extremely low energy needs of an LED clock it's kind of stupid not having that ability.

I agree.. the clock to show if / when in the acc mode (as in using the radio) would have been nice which would not have cost a nickle to include.
No, I mean always showing no matter what. Or even turn on if it sensed the key like you just walked up to the car. Just like the interior / puddle lights turn on.
I would be satisfied if the clock worked in the ACC position like my previous Highlander. Lot's of times I arrive early to an appointment and I'm sitting there listening to the radio to kill some time and wishing I had a clock.
It's such a simple feature you wonder how it slipped past.
You know if yall are that upset about it, you can just cut the IG wire and install a ACC wire. With the radio right there, there will be plenty of ACC activated wires you can tap into. Given there are only 4 wires going into the clock, and its the far edge one (the edge with a tab on the side), its fairly easy to do.

You realize, don't you, that if we lived closer together I'd be working out deals to have you pimp my ride....

LED has much higher power consumption than an LCD clock. That's a big reason why calculators went from LED type to LCD displays. I have some HP calculators, both LED and LCD. The LED will run several hours on a charge and the LCD will run a whole year on a set of batteries. Given that today's cars have a lot of parasitic drain even when "off" it's easy to see why the LED clocks are not lit when key is in off position.
