Hi guys i'm in the market for the new 2008 HL Limited. For those of you who has seen the car already can you please give me your opinion on the style of the HL. Thanks.
I don't like the outside. For me it's too bland in an era of stylish competition. I don't care for the Subaru-like grille. Interior seems nice, and I'm sure it has a great build quality, as do all Toyotas. Also has a great engine, but it's the damn outside that just doesn't do it for me. Style, though, is subjective, and this is only MY opinion. I am eagerly awaiting the restyle of the Honda Pilot, which is coming up soon.

I agree with "lqueral" I myself don't like the exterior too. I like the interior.
It's ironic for the HL to be compared to a Sante Fe, since Hyundai was actually the one that copied Toyota and made the Sante Fe look like a Toyota.
The competition for the Highlander includes the Pilot, CX9, Outlook, Acadia and Veracruz. Among all of them, IMHO the HL has the most cohesive styling.
I repeat - Taste is subjective. There will never be a right or wrong opinion about the new HL's look. That said, I think the Hyundai Veracruz is a REAL competitior. I drove one and was VERY impressed...and I don't impress easily <grin>. Looks good, drives good, very quiet. Could you buy in spite of the Hyundai name? I believe they can now be considered "legitimate players" in this game. Great warranty also.

I believe it drives well, you can't drive good....hehehehe
It looks good, but the drive is AMAZING. It's smooth, powerful, and AMAZINGLY quiet. Handling is smooth like butter. It's comfortable...if you haven't driven it..do so!
Just bought 2008 Highlander Limited this week and love it. The ride is exceptional, quiet, powerful and smooth. The gadgets are great: backup camera, power tailgate, bluetooth, climate control and on and on. I didn't want to pay this much for a car/SUV but found $30,000 cars like the CX-9 and Honda Pilot couldn't convince me they were worth the money. I would have preferred to pay $30,000 for a car like this but that didn't seem possible, so I shelled out more to avoid regretting my decision the next 5-6 years of payments. If this Toyota is as dependable as everyone says Toyotas are I'm sure I'll have no regrets with this purchase.
My only desires so far are: memory seats, rain sensing wipers, Ipod integration and dual exhaust.

Already done and it works fine, maybe better that way since te best way to control an Ipod is from the Ipod itself. By Ipod integration I meant the ability to control the Ipod via the radio controls, see playlists on-screen, etc. Maybe the current setup is optimum, time will tell. Initial thought is to have the aux plug in the armest storage to hide the Ipod but then controlling it would be an issue.....

As I have a 07 Camry XLE with smart key and am considering trading in my 06 RAV4 Limited for a 08 Highlander Limited, does anyone know if you can program my Camry SmartKeys into the Highlander so I have one key that operates both vehicles??
I looked through my Camry owners manual but didn't find any comments on how many keys can be programmed into the SmartKey System
Also does anyone know were the new Highlanders are built??

Sorry you can't use 1 key for both vehicles and the 08 Highlanders are built in Japan.
Thanks for the answers to my questions..Bummer on the can't program my XLE smart key into the Highlander. Hope the fob looks different so I don't mix them up (waiting until December to spring for one)
Last question...When I did a walk around a 2008 Highlander Sport yesterday I falled to check to see where Toyota put the full size spare tire.
Is it under the third row seat or under the Highlander??
