Adding illumination to the window switches

Did anyone think about adding illumination to the window switches? This should be very easy mod to do. Switch is very easy to remove and take apart. Button is hollow, 12V comes on green and blue wires. I'm thinking about lighting options. Round green LED in the button would look cheap. What other options available?

I have a Scion xB and did something like you are talking about. I went junk yarding and found 3 auto window switches and replaced the non auto switches on the driver side. They are illuminated and work very well. It is easy like you said and didn't cost very much. Good luck

Does this make the windows auto?

silly question but if you replace the window switches with auto switches from the junk yard do those windows become auto up/down?

Gonna bump this up:
Has anyone gone through and actually done this mod?
A luminated lock/unlock would be helpful, too

Haven't looked at the HL switches (other electrical mods ahead of it), but on another vehicle used flat topped low lumen LEDs glued flush into a hole drilled into the switch top. Use an appropriate voltage divider/regulator/resistor combo to drive the LEDs at the needed levels. A flat topped surface mount LED would fit a very small space.

The other option would be to place the LEDs in the well of the switch housings facing the button.

Personally, I think the buttons and the panel are kind of cheap looking for the vehicle.

Does anyone know if any of the Highlanders have illuminated window switches?

I was actually thinking of adding an led to the door handle area, shining down on to the switches.

OK, took the switch apart tonight, there is no way to add lights to it internally, time to find another way.
