SmartKey Trivia part Deux

You can use the key fob to change how the SmartKey system opens the doors.

There are two settings.
Setting 1: the default is open the drivers door only if you touch the drivers side front door handle and open all doors if you touch the passenger side front door handle

Setting 2: Open all doors when either front door handle is touched.

Page 37 of the 08 HL Owner’s Manual
Switching the door unlock function (open all doors or just the drivers door)
It is possible to set which doors the (Smartkey) entry function unlocks
Step 1: Turn the “Engine Start/Stop” switch “OFF”
Step 2: When the indicator on the key surface is turned off, push and hold the “Unlock” button and the “Lock” button together for approximately 5 seconds. You will hear confirmation beeps when the setting is changed.
The SmartKey settings toggle each time this operation is performed.
Soooo... you can do this and try it and if you don't like it you can change it back.

Also the buttons on the key fob are a separate system from the Smartkey system.

Pressing the unlock button once only opens the drivers door and you have to press it twice to open all doors.

Changing the button settings requires the dealer to plug in the "intelligent tester" and change the customizable settings that are available (like how long the headlight off delay is set for..default is 30 seconds but you can have it changed to 0, 60, 90 seconds)

The manual could be better.
The Bluetooth section has you reaching for a Fosters...

So how big are the letters on the back that say "Kluger"

I understand it means "clever in German

Summerwind,

the Bluetooth section I mastered but wanting to know if there is name display if the contact is stored in the car.

The "kluger" word is exactly the same size as highlander, so it is less congested on the plate.
