One week ago we purchased a 2011 Highlander GLS, V6, fwd. It was on the lot in silver, w/gray interior. It came w/Tow Prep Package, Tech Package, all Carpets, & Roof Rails. The dealership offers a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty as long as you follow their oil change protocol, which will be hard as we like to change our own oil(we let it drain overnight). Their out-the-door price was $28,740. No Doc Fees or hidden add-ons. The dealer sold us the 4 mudguards for $71, which we put on ourselves. I just drove the Highlander on 2 600 miles trips, the mpg up was after refuel, over 27 mpg. Back was 26+. The vehicle drove wonderfully, I felt very safe in it and we are very pleased with it.

What is Highlander GLS? Are you sure you got a highlander? Can it be Santa FE GLS?
Hi Everyone. This is my first post
Thank you for all your valuable information.
I just purchase 2011 Highlander Limited for $44,800 CAD including PDI and Freight.
This includes one way remote starter, all season mats, body side molding and hood deflector.
I need to wait until September to get the Silver color I want.
Is this a good deal? or Did I pay too much?
Does that price include GST? Considering the car's MSRP before PDI and Freight is $44,900 and you got those things thrown in, i'd say you got a pretty good deal.
Thanks for your replies:
Timbits93: Unfortunately, the price does not include GST which is approximately $2,350. I wish it does. Others had done better with existing stock on the lot, but I want silver color and I had to make a better offer.
Loudog2: CAD (Canadian Dollars), and PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). The MSRP is 46,744. I know I can wait until September, but I want to make sure that I can get the car I want and the color I want. In addition, I live in a small town in Northern Alberta, my schedule and the travel distance won't allow me to spend time in Edmonton or Calgary to shop for the car I want.
Well, I'm curious to see how this offer is. We really were hoping our current SUV would last until the end of the year (11 years old) for better deals and rebates, but it died on us last week so we need to purchase asap. We could only find one dealer who had the trim we were looking for in our area, stock seems really low right now:
Base, V6 2wd w/ tow package & Tech Package. The internet MSRP was $31,425 (including Manuf,Delivery,Proc $825)
But when we got there, there was an additional sticker with new MSRP that included:
Tint (i'm assuming the front windows), Fabric protection, Pin Stripe, Alarm, Mats (although I thought they were standard, no 3rd row or cargo included). NO prices were listed for these, then ADM (which I learned was additional dealer mark up) listed for additional $3000, total MSRP was a little over $36,000.
Ofcourse, I told them the additional sticker of options was crap, but got them down to $30,100 (not including T&T)
So that's about $700 over invoice without figuring in the 2nd set of added accessories (Alarm, Fabric Protection, Pin Stripe, Mats, Tint)?
- Tint - standard on all new HLs from what i see at a local dealer - California. But in some states no front tint due to local restrictions
- Fabric protection - never heard of it, sounds like a scam
- Pin Stripe (not sure what this is)
- Alarm - usually costs around $300
- Mats - basic ones come as standard equipment here...

this vehicle sounds very much like the Highlander I purchased a month ago. Our out-the-door price was less than $29,000. No extra doc fees, the price is the price. And a Liftime Powertrain Warranty, as long as you have someone(not you) change the vehicles oil. If you are ever near the Toyota dealer in Asheville, NC, give Alan a call. This is a low-pressure dealership, we have purchased 3 vehicles from them.

Just my 2 cents but...
Tint - Since you are in FL, I'm assuming it's the front windows... You can get a quote locally but from what I recall, most shops down there get it done for around $75
Fabric Protection - believe this is actually part of the tech package - comes with "easy clean" seats - my dealer tried to sell it to me as an add on for $500 but I said no
Pin Stripes - If it's painted AND you like them, it would probably cost about $200 to have a paint shop do it for you. If it's tape, make them take it off as it'll peel in a few months anyway so they are worth $0
Alarm - $300 sounds right - especially if it's factory - if it's aftermarket just make sure it works with your factory fob and doesn't have an annoying motion sensor
Mats - worthless to me as I bought Husky/Weathertech liners for my floors. I had them remove the mats and reduce the price by their cost ($230) after we had gotten down to the bottom number. I actually had them reduce the price for the cross bars too, but the service guy was too lazy to remove them so I got them anyway.
paid invoice for a base 4wd with tow package, cold weather, and paint blizzard pearl. then got $1000 toyota cash back and 3.1 financing from another bank (turned out be better this way than going toyota 1.9 for loan) around 29k plus tax
I just picked up a 2012 Limited with remote start, tow package, DVD/Nav, but no rear seat dvd for $38,600. Taxes and Fees etc (out the door) was still less than the window sticker price, plus no haggling needed.
