OUT The Door Price??????????? or does Tax/DMV still need to be added?

Tax varies from state to state, so I did not include that in. The tax on the invoice was $2020. $90 bucks for the plate transfer and new registration. So add that to the $35,500, that would be the absolute out the door price.
I am not sure why the dealer was showing a cost below the KBB invoice. Prior dealers that I went to would should a cost about $500 greater than KBB invoice which accounted for the Toyota advertisement fee.
Originally sought out to get essentially the package above minus the DVD player. Unfortunately, that is not available in New England, so I would have had to go over to PA to pick one up. I also didn't want to have to go through a dealer to get one delivered since I probably couldn't work the price down as low as I would want.
So essentially you got the car for the true dealer invoice, which is about $500 above the KBB invoice due to the advertising fee. Good deal! I pretty much got mine for the the true dealer invoice also. The only extra thing was that I had the dealer install the bodyside moldings.

Yeah, not sure why Boch shows their cost as being below invoice. I know that they claim to pay cash for all their cars, so I assume this reduces their costs a bit. Although, I don't know how the Toyota Ad Fee is factored in... I didn't even bother negotiating the price (the price I paid was the price they emailed to me on my initial request for information on the vehicle) since it was essentially my target price, it was a fair price, and it was unlikely I was going to beat it anywhere.
I've been emailing dealers within a 200 mile radius for the last two months. I finally got a deal I liked and bought my new car this weekend. Here are the details:
2008 Highlander Limited AWD with typical features plus:
JBL 6 Disc with Bluetooth
Auto rear climate control
Sport style rear spoiler
Multi-stage heated seats
Power rear door
Moonroof
Towing prep package
My price before tax, title, and license was $34,804. That price included destination and a bogus financial reserve fee that the dealer wasn't going to waive, but we both knew that even with that fee, he had the lowest price around.

What part of California are you from? Very hard to get a good deal here in Los Angeles. Dealers want close to msrp for a blizzard pearl loaded with nav/dvd. Thanks

We got ours from Modesto Toyota and yes the Blizzard White in the "Limited" was not easy to find. lol - same thing happened to the wife on her last Toyoto "Avalon - Pearl White" back in 96 - Wife loves the color... Ours is with OUT the Nav or Dvd
2008 Base HL, Sandy Beach Metallic, Roof Rails, Tonneau Cover, 6-disc CD, Daytime Running Light Package, 3rd Row Seat Delete, Sticker $27,898. These were advertised in the paper for $25,950. It took 6 hours (!) of haggling, but I got it for $25,450 plus $300 sales tax.
There was a long list of BS add-ons that they argued about and lost on, including $39 Convenience Fee for Electronic Registration, $298 Administration Fee paid to Dealership (LOL!), $10 Fee Paid to Third Party for Electronic Registration,$22.54 Destination Fuel Surcharge, and funniest of all $495 "Interior Protection", which I guess is supposed to be for spraying the interior with Scotchguard.
We got right up to closing time, and just when they thought I was going to hand over the check, I told them the deal hinged on them throwing in the OEM 5-piece floor mat set, a full tank of gas, and a 10-pak of oil filters. The Sales Manager got involved and actually said that I was insulting them, but relented in the end. These guys are hilarious!
I wasn't really happy with the Dunlop tires on the HL I wanted, so I got them to swap them for a set of TOYO's on another HL on the lot, wheels and all.
How'd I do?

Grats SWSportsman on your new highlander. IMO, a few grand off of the sticker price is always good, and have them throw in a few extra is even better. I say you did well. Every dealership is different. Some are willing to work with you, and some will BS and argue everything you say. In terms of price, my "Ex-Dealer" friend always told me go go $500 below invoice no matter what. But it ain't easy. Timing is everything. Like you, I went in an hour before closing on a Saturday night. At the 11th Hour, not literally, they're far more flexible with the price and add in more goodies than the rest of the weekdays or nites. With my highlander, I truthful didn't fight hard enough, and landed at a nickle over invoice. Overall, I was happy with the car and the dealership so far. Let's just hope all well go smooth from this point on.
Modesto Toyota buyers... been talking and dealing with one fleet manager on a HL/Limited even before the 08 came out... then waited until late Nov to do the deal... Modesto Toyota was firm on $1000 over invoice {Blizzard White Limited were hard to find}... Most other dealers in the are were the same, Merced was $900 - did not really want to drive to the bay area or Sac - So, when our color came in - we went in - tired to get them to at least do the $900 - was told NO way... So the deal was done... one week later a friend went in and got a Limited from the same fleet manager for $500 over invoice... Went back today and ask WTF!! answer was, he was from out of town and the Sales Manager wanted to "make it happen" On top of that I was treated like crap today at the service dept.. had an app for them to install the hitch harness (1/2 hour job) car sat there for two hours past the app and when I came back - I was told they needed it all day because it was a 2.5 hour job --- I took my part and came home.... had it installed by myself in under 50 min.... and I had to read the inst...
message here.... learned my lesson at Modesto Toyota - when we thought we had a friend - didn't happen.... Tell them you are from Out of Town - lol.... you get a better deal....
even with that,,,, The wife Loves her Limited and it really is a nice car...
BTW - I am happy the other guy got a great deal - good for them...
I did get the harness and mats thrown in and I was told "You were close" I answered - The reason for that was You told me there was 3.9% but when I got there that went up to 5.9% - So, I paid cash} now open you wallet and hand me another $300 and we will call it square - just got a blank stare..
LOL - Just goes to show ya, even when we think we have done our homework and used the fleet/internet/costco - and got the no hassel deal - the next guy just may get a better deal...
Whats two car salesman at the bottom of a pool???? A good start, lol
I just picked up my 08 HL Limited 4x4 fully loaded -DVD Entertainment for $500.00 over invoice. I usually play 4 dealers against each other, using the Internet. I never go to the dealers, just email and phone and keep going around and around, lowering the price until I get down to one dealer.
I live outside of Chicago. Try to pick the smaller dealerships or the ones that are out in the boonies that are more aggressive to get your business.
2008 Highlander 4WD, Standard model, Silver/grey, came with roof rails, 6-disc, Tow Pkg(no receiver though), cold weather pkg, floor mats. Paid Invoice at $28,300. OTD was $30,800. Thompson's Toyota out of Placerville, CA

$25k for any 08 Highlander is a bargain. Is that AWD?
We paid $33k even for a Sport AWD with leather, 3rd row delete, tow, nav, cold weather and cross bars.
