New Highlander owner

Hi everyone,
Thought I'd post my experience with and reason for choosing our new Highlander SR5.

After having 3 Nissan sedans (2 Stanzas and an Altima) it was necessary to move on to a SUV mainly because I need to throw a wheelchair in the back and, due to a certain myopathy I can no longer rise from a low seat. I've looked at so many models it was becoming a blur
Towards the end it came down to the Nissan Murano and the Highlander. While the Murano fit my requirements I could not justify plunking own a whole lot of $$$ for a vehicle that'd be last year's model in 2 months (Murano's are stuck as 2007s until Feb/March next year when the new one comes out as a '09 model) and less safety features. The HL won me over.
I chose the SR5 with leather seat option ( really helps in sliding in/out of the vehicle) and the power back door is very helpful.
The vehicle is really well made: fit and finish is, imo, perfect; the ride is smooth and tight with no perceptible creaks, rattles or clicks. Backup camera took a whole 5 minutes to get used to; controls are well laid out and the radio sounds ok.

The 2 things that ever so slightly dampened the experience was when driving the HL home from the dealership the right-most heater vent selector knob came out in my hand when turning it. The second, just discovered yesterday, is they forgot to install the switch which heats up the driver/passenger leather seat. While I easily fixed the former by popping the knob into place the latter requires a trip back to the dealership. I'll have to ask what exactly they inspect when prepping the vehicle prior to delivery

Once I get the necessary adaptations done this will be one kicka$$ vehicle

Frank
