So in my first post I indicated that I could not find the heating switch for the leather seats in our SR5 Highlander. Well this was a head-scratcher for my sales guy, his service manager, and the dealership owner..lol. They could not find the control. Well as the sales guy and serv. manager are looking around some more I see this black button at the side of the passenger seat. i get closer and wouldn't you know it..the bloody switch is on the seat itself to the front of the positioning lever! I ask the sales guy to check the driver seat and sure enough it's present there also. Nowhere in the literature is this mentioned so hopefully this post can alleviate some aggravation for fellow HL owners who cannot find the button.
BTW, with optional leather seats you cannot regulate the degree of heating as when those that come standard; it's either on or off.

The leather seats are from Toyota which is probably why the 3 guys at the dealership were confused.

Let me get this straight in Canada the heat knobs are on the side of the seats?? And not on the center console?? Or is the heated part the aftermarket??

If the leather seats are standard features such as in the Sports and Limited models then the 2 knobs are located right under the vehicle heater controls and between the AUX input and power outlet.
The SR5 model comes with cloth seats. If you pick the leather heated seats option then the heating button (no knobs, just one toggle-type button) is on the side.
Now if these are aftermarket seats I have no idea and would be supremely pissed if the dealership passed them off as factory installed Toyota seats seeing that they charge 2200$ for this option.
Any sure way to tell?

We called that aftermarket. Any car or truck that comes without leather we can add it. We have added leather to a base and a sport Highlanderand both had the heat on the sides. We charge around $2200 for a Highlander with 3rd row. Hope that helps

Thanks for setting me straight on the terminology, Akira. You've pretty much allayed any doubt about the seats. Can I ask you however about this button on the side? If you depress the top part a small red light comes on in the button itself. If you depress the button's bottom part a green light comes on and I feel the seat heating up. The button can also be set in its neutral position where neither light comes on. My question then is: what's the difference between the button with the red light on (top part depressed) and it being set in neutral?

I will ask one of the guys who installs the leather for us and will have a answer for you soon.
