Thumbs up My Turn... My First Oil Change

Well at 2,271 miles, I decided to go ahead with my first oil change. My plan is to change at 2,500 (just done), again at 5,000, then follow the 5,000 mile intervals. My previous vehicle was a Town & Country, and I was changing the oil on that every 3,000 miles up until about 48,000 when it got old (the changing oil part) and I switched to 5,000 miles intervals. I've always used Mobil 1, and will continue to use it on the HL. This was my first time changing an oil cartridge instead of just replacing the old can filter with a new one. I think I'll get a little more comfortable with the cartridge as time goes, but I don't think it will ever be as fast as spinning off the old can, and screwing on a new can. However, I will say that the way the filter is installed on the HL, it is A LOT LESS messy than spinning off a can, and believe me I got perfected in oil can filters. I would drive a nail into the old oil can and allow it to drain that way, but it still wasn't as clean a job as the HL's cartridge casing. Oh well, so long for now...

My experience was very similair...I think in a few more changes I too will become a cartridge pro! It is sooo easy to access the filter compared to my 04 Sequoia, and even my 2002 Camry.
