Toyota today ordered all sales of the 2010 Highlander to be suspended until they figure out the solution of the sticky accelerator issue which was part of a massive recall announced last week. Here is the official Toyota statement below.
Great... We just bought a 2010 SE last week. Has anyone received a recall notice yet, or is Toyota still trying to figure out how they're going to fix this problem?
The Japanese automaker said the sales suspension includes the following models: the 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra and the 2008-2010 Sequoia

Summerwind, this is different. Dealers are now suspending sales and production is being halted until root cause and proper corrective action is determined. The link in the first post is now active:
And please learn how to control the car in case of emergency - put in "N" till complete stop and only after that turn the engine off. NOT another way around.
Interesting that between so many affected Toyota vehicles only 08-09 HL doesn't appear to be having sticky accelerator issue. What did they do different there?

From what I have read so far it appears a different supplier provided the 08-09 accelerator assembly than for the 2010s. This supplier change for the Highlander happened when production shifted to North America for 2010. I suspect we will slowly learn more over the next few days...
if it's a programming glitch - whan parts supplier got to do with it? I believe the "black box" function of computer keeps the records of the last 30 sec data including position of all the sensors. It would clearly indicate if pedal sensor was sending a "full throttle request" signal and if break pedal was applied, than programming change should be in place to override gas pedal signal. It could be easily incorporated with the "hill assist" signal based on the force applied to the pedal (or pressure in the hydraulic line).
consuming too much sea products (think about sushi and all the mercury in it) and sucke to be blamed. I probably shouldn't make this statement but WTF
