Recirculate button goes OFF after time - Base Model

My base model AWD 2010 (aka RECALLED) Highlander has no climate package. So no Auto Heat or anything fancy like that.

The RECIRCULATE button goes off on its own after a few minutes. Just wondering what "Feature" would cause this to happen.

I read on the venza forum it has to do with preventing fog.. but want to get the Highlander peeps thoughts on it.

Thanks

Fish

Not a problem.

On a related topic, has anyone found that their AC comes on some times without the switch actually being activated? On numerous occasions I have left my HL with no AC on, and then the next time I start up the vehicle AC is running. I have the Base model with no automatic climate control. I'm positive I have not accidentally been hitting the AC button and, in fact, since I'm aware of the "issue" I make a point of looking at the control panel to make sure AC is not running before turning off my HL. Weird!

Any chance you used the front windshield defroster? Many cars turn the AC on with the defroster to help dehumidify...

Nope. I only use that when it rains, and the times in question it's happened it hasn't been raining. I'd probably have to take a video of "before" and "after" to show a service manager to convince them it's actually happening...one of those things that makes you sound like you're crazy but it's really true....

I have notice that on mine the AC button will be on if the control is set all the way over to cold/AC.

It's controlled by the Borg..."prepare to be assimilated...resistance is futile"

maybe it detect the air's quality and force in fresh air if it's not good? Mines does the same thing and sometimes, I need to make it recirculate because of the foul smell outside (i.e. behind a garbage truck) and it really sux that I can't turn it on, kept turning off on me... even seconds after I turned it on.

Is it a bug or is it a feature? anyone knows?
