4WD Conversion Kit?

Probably a dumb question but is it possible to upgrade an existing FWD Highlander to 4WD? I purchased a '09 V6 FWD and am now wishing I had gone with the AWD.

Anything is "possible" if you are willing to pay the money for it. However, adding something like that to your vehicle would not be worth it. It would be much more efficient and cost effective to trade yours in for a 4WD version. When I purchased my 2005 Sienna I looked at adding a second power sliding door and it was crazy how much money and time it would have costs.

Sorry but I don't think you are going to get any good news on this subject...

There's a very large number of very expensive parts that would have to be added or replaced.

This includes the rear suspension, rear diff, center diff, possibly the transmission, possibly the ABS/traction control module, possibly the engine computer, etc. etc. Once you got all the work done, your warranty would have long since been null and void.

Just sell it and buy another one. Or, buy another set of wheels and put snow tires on them.

Thanks to all for the advice. I actually do have a set of Blizzak DM-V1s on it already. I think I'll just stick with what I have. The trade-in value from the dealer was just too low.

Adding 4wd isn't cost effective. It would be if you had a 25 year old pick up truck with the proper parts to add, but a modern SUV...you'll get a better price on trading it in for one with AWD. I wish I could get the V6 in Canada with FWD...only the 2.7L I4 is available.
