MFD Harness

Does anyone know where the harness from the MFD originates from? I'm trying to install the MFD in my base 2010 Highlander. I have taken out the whole center stack and cannot find where it would come from. The only 2 harness points I came across were a white capped one behind where the starter button would be (if I had one) and a blue capped one to the right of the center heating vents over towards where the passenger airbag is, any ideas?

TIA

I am interested in this information as well. But I have to ask, because I am curious. About how much did you pay for your MFD unit and where can you get it from. My dealer quoted me 1700.00 for the MFD alone! That really seems unreasonable. Please tell me someone found it cheaper than that! I have been searching online and cannot find any prices for the part. Anybody's help is much appreciated.

Paid a lot less on ebay, but still useless without having the ability to hook it up . I know that I also need the steering wheel controls for it (apparently about $160 at the stealership). I'm at the point now where I'm ready to give up on it. My wife drives the Highlander 90% of the time and misses the outside temperature readout from her last car, but I figure I could always get an auto dimming mirror with the temp on it if I can't get the MFD working.

You probably should have searched for MFD harness before buying one. One member Mrhonesty has been trying to install one even to the point of ordering a custom harness, I don't believe he was able to do it.

What is it called

I actually researched this subject actually using terms such as MFD Harness, MFD Install. I read the previous thread and went as far as PMing MrHonesty to find out how successful he was, as of yet I have not received a reply. I'm sure that we are not the only two people who have tried this, there just seems to be a lack of information on the subject.

Have you searched the Audio, Visual, and Security forum yet? There's a lot of gearheads in there and it's possible MFDs have been discussed before. Just throwing that out as another place to look for info.

i am sorry i was away i still did not get a chance to install it but i did test the harness and it does power the mfd up so i guess the rest should be fine, you see there is more than just a plug i will have to find many little cables around the dash to make it work here is the diagram i hope it helps many more.

Thanks for the info, are you planning on finishing the install soon? So, the small plug fits into the MFD, i'm assuming that the other 40 pin plug fits into somewhere else? Is this the harness plug that's behind where the starter button would be? Is this a harness that I can buy from the dealer? I have too many questions........

yes i hope i can finish it soon i just keep putting if off to do other things, this harness was made upon order and it is not something you can get from the dealer it cost about $100 to make and about 4 weeks to arrive the 40 pin plug goes to the mfd and the cables that come from it have to go to diff pin connection behind the dash, behind the odometer and so on , you see the harness collects data from diff parts of the car by attaching the cable where it would had gone originally, i never purchased the steering control i think that is why i got thrown out of my project mood, did you see if your car came prewired for the steering controls if not then that's another project.
