Hi All, I traded in my Rav4 and bought 2010, Highlander SE model with V6, AWD with a blue tooth, cross-bars, mud guards, remote starter (Toyota parts at dealer), alarm (Toyota parts at dealer), road block paint protection (installed at dealer) on the front and back bumpers, hood, fenders, mirrors, and door edges, (head lights, not sure).
My color: Magnetic Grey Metallic
My Interior: Ash + Ash Leather seats.
Paid: $31,300/- (I did not include tax.)
Suggestions Please: Like to do wood mods like on the limited, how to achieve that?
Just got mine last week -
2010 Highlander SE 4WD
Classic Silver with Ash leather interior.
Added factory hitch and remote start
On the road for $32,500
It's for the wife - I took her 4Runner out 3 weeks ago to pick up medicine for the kids in the snow and slid into a tree. No one hurt, but I did $4100 in damage - took it to the local dealer for repairs and ended up trading it for $6000 towards a new Highlander.

Here's a link to a past thread about wood appliques, but you might do a search for more threads since I vaguely remember interior wood being discussed in other threads too. Hope that helps a bit.

My wife and I can't stand the fake wood trim (personal opinion, I don't knock anybody that does)
The SE has everything we want, and misses the key items that we didn't like on the Limited like the fake wood trim, bigger tires (rougher ride & expense), power gate (no need), super power drivers seat (one in the SE are just right)

The wood grain is not the greatest. However I liked it. It also added a little color to the all gray interior. I have seen worse on the more expensive cars.
Please be aware if you opt for the Toyota accessory 10 piece kit, it does not include the door handle grips and shift handle. That is extra but it does include the (4) door switch panels as you will see in the photo below.
I didn't go for the after-market kit because they added too much. Any wood that is exposed to the sun near the top will delaminate in a short period of time.
Good luck.

Thanks for your time,
If your's is ash interior then mine should look exactly like yours (I did not get mine delivered). I prefer bit lighter wood like in the hybrid rather than a darker tone.
Where did you but this kit from and did you DIY? If so, is it easy?
Is this Toyota Nav.? Or the other one (forgot name) which have people have discussed?
I don't believe Toyota ofters the yellowish brown interior like the hybrid HL as a kit. Only the darker tone which is the LTD version on the HL. You would need to contact the dealer to see if they ofter the lighter tone. The other option is to go aftermarket. If you do, I would avoid any wood around the air vent and radio areas.
I actually brought the kit from a stereo dealer where I bought the radio. Supposedly the customer canceled the order last minute and I brought it at a good price in combination with the radio.
Yes, I installed the kit myself. It was fairly easy to do. They do provide instructions how to install the kit in order. You will need a hair dryer to heat up the 3M adhesive glue on the back of each part to install. Also, you need a steady hand and a good eye to line up each part correctly. I got the four handle grips and shift knob from a junk yard to complete the look.
The radio is the Rosen Navigation you have been reading about already. Despite the cost and some of the problems I hear with the company. I am very happy with it so far.

You actually have a bit more wood trim than I have on my 09 Limited. I don't have the wood trim on my power window/door lock panel on each door. They are ash grey on mine, just like the rest of the interior. And since my centre console drink holder cover is always opened, there really isn't alot of wood grain trim that is typically visible to me...just minor accents. That's why I don't mind it at all. Like you said, I seen alot worse on higher end vehicles as well, with the main reason being that there is alot more of it.

I'm looking for a marble color dash kit. I seen it at my stealership but it cost $1200 with installation. I think thats like giving an arm leg and couple finger for a dash kit. Does anyone know where I can find good dash kit cover thats not wood? Thanks
i surprised my wife w/a 2010 limited blizzard pearl loaded for $32k out the door. we have an 01 limited that has 187,000 miles on it. we were the original buyer back in 2000 when we got it. there is nothing wrong with it, and it was hard to buy a new car when the old one runs perfect. but its been 10 years, so we figured it was time, plus with all the negative publicity, we thought there would be good deals, and there is! we would never even think about buying any other vehicle, even though we did test drive others. nothing compares to our highlanders! love the forum and already spent $100 on the horn upgrade. Looking forward to doing other mods.
Fooled me there for a minute, I thought it was factory trim and that was a factory navigation! Looks good!
I saw a Limited with black leather and wood trim, it looked awesome. There is nothing I hate more than seeing a car with that aftermarket fake stuff that is stuck EVERYWHERE.
That's not even that bad, but yours had me fooled, I even second guessed the trim on the window controls!
I notice a lot of dealers on eBay are taking base Highlanders and putting leather in them. A dead giveaway is the lack of heated seat controls, and the lack of the warning sticker on the back of the drivers seat.
