I have a 08 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. A few weeks ago the CD player stopped working. The radio and other stuff are still working fine, just the CD player is not working.
So I took it the the dealer and they replaced the whole CD player unit. But the CD player still isn't working.
So again, they put in a brand new unit in for me. Again, failed to work.
They gave me a Camry to drive around while they try to fix the problem.
A new CD player is supposed to arrive tomorrow; one that will hopefully work.
My question is, what will happen if they can't still fix it?
Will they just leave it like that? or what will they do?
Every state has slightly different rules for their lemon law. I had issues with a different 2007 vehicle (not a Toyota). I had to have 4 attempted repairs in the first 12 months or 12,000 miles. When the dealer was unable to correct the problem with 4 repairs in the first 6 months/9,000 miles I was given a choice of a free 2008 for free with identical equipment or a complete refund less 32 cents/mile. There was no fighting or arguing...the process went very smooth.

Thanks everyone!
I looked up some more info on the Lemon Law in Ohio.
The dealer was suppose to contact me today, but I haven't heard from them. So, I'll bother them tomorrow and see what they can do for me.
I'll update the results, just in case anyone has a problem in the future.
I went through the Lemon Law process with my 06 VW GTI. I no longer have that car.
It is a very hard process to go through and you need a lot to win. Also, in PA anyway, your car needs to have less than 12,000 miles on it to qualify for the Lemon Law. Also, the same problem needs to reoccur three times in order to pass. In addition to that, you need to have every single copy of receipts and dealer report information to prove that you in fact go the same problem fixed multiple times.
Seeing that you have an 08, and its just your CD player odds are you are over 12k miles. Id guess that they will just fix your CD player and you will get nothing out of the Lemon Law process. Sorry.
I just went over 15k. It's less than an year since I bought the car. I went to the same dealer (since it's the only one around) more than 3 times. They even tried putting a new CD player in, but no fix.
I just got a phone call today, they said that the new CD player arrived. If this one doesn't work then it will be the 3rd brand new unit.
My guess is they would send you to Best Buy to install an aftermarket deck and eat the cost before they would give you a new car or your money back. I am not sure the lemon law would apply to a CD player inside the car, however I am not a lawyer. Realistically, would you really want to fight this legal battle?
If the third unit is still problematic, write a letter to the dealer service manager and document all of your visits (mileage and dates) to correct the problem. Alert him that you want to enact the lemon law process.
BTW, in your paperwork/manuals you will have some instructions about the lemon law process...it's required that this be provided at delivery. You will probably have instructions to notify Toyota and/or the dealer service manager.
They will probably ask for one more shot to repair. Make sure you get their commitment on the steps forward if the repair fails...replacement vehicle or return. Again, they will advise you what is needed according to state law.

Fortunately, at least for Toyota, the CD player is finally working after 3 units.
This gave me a great opportunity to learn the rights I have as a car owner.
I noticed that most of my coworkers never even heard of the Lemon Law.
