Wind noise from bug / hood deflector?

I am experiencing some rather moderate to severe wind noise (whistling sound) when travelling anywhere above 70 miles/hr on the highway. Dealer says it is probably my aftermarket Weathertech bug deflector. They recommend removing it and trying to drive and see if it continues.

I probably will try removing it just to determine whether they are correct, but in the meantime, is anyone else experiencing wind noise with or without a bug deflector?

Thanks.

I will say it right here, the dealer has no idea what he is talking about. I have the Weathertech bugflector for 2 years now and have no wind noise problems. I also have the factory roof rack and lug my canoe on the roof 3x a week, but I do not have a sunroof on my '08 Sport HL though.

1, Do you have a sunroof?
2. Do you have a factory or an aftermarket rack on top?

I haven't noticed anything like this, but I have the OEM bug deflector.

I have had an AVS Hood Shield / Bug Deflector on my HL for over a year now and have not noticed any additional noise from it...

I have Weathertech bug deflectors on both my HL and RAV 4. No unusual noises at any speed.

Don't have one on the Highlander, but when I first installed a WeatherTech on our Honda Odyssey, it whistled loudly at highway speeds. Repositioned it ever so slightly and the whistling went away.

If you Google "AVS Bug deflector" you will get a bunch of hits on retailers.

Here is a link and the info, including the part number, for the clear shield from the Lund Website:

Auto Ventshade
Bugflector II(R)
Stone/Bug Deflector

I have a 2010 Highlander with 700 total miles on the vehicle and the wind noise is terrible. I removed the factory bug shield and the wind noise was the same. I let my wife test drive the vehicle at the dealership since it was to be hers and she did not drive fast enough to hear the wind noise at hi way speeds. After the current recalls are handled, I will take the Highlander to the Dealer for repairs.

I'm just throwing this out for anyone with wind noise they can't pin down. I'd check the door seals/gaskets since they can get worked loose. When I took out my side paneling I had to removed the 2nd row door seals and then reinstalled them when finished. Next day I had an obvious wind noise problem coming from the back and double-checked, and sure enough one of the seals was loose. Once I put it back in place, noise gone. There's no clips or anything holding them in place, and I can see where kids in the back could grab around the door frame and pull them loose. Just one of those "little things" to check for.

Thanks folks! I have my doubts about the deflector being the cause, but just to be sure, I might pull it off before we go skiing on Sunday. Will post results.

Cheers.
