brake dust shields

I was thinking of using dust shields on my highlander. Is this a good idea ?Do they work, and would they make brakes heat up due to less ventilation.

Are you experiencing brake dust on the wheels? I have an 08 and I see zero brake dust front or rear. Now my wife's 2007 Volvo is a different story...tons of brake dust!

Save your money...

It is only normal to have some brake dust on your wheels. Especially on your front wheels. Just wash them off regularly and you should be fine.
Althought the dust shield will not over heats your brakes, but why border with something that might reduce air flow to your brakes?

Brake dust shields are normally on the back of the rotors. They only cover the top portion of the rotor to keep debris from damaging the caliper and line connection. I wouldn't install anything else around the brakes. After 10 years, if you still have the 'Lander I'm sure you'll want to pull the shields off anyway before they rust and rub onto other parts. Even the smallest parts add cost to the building process, and to install them yourself if you don't have them, wouldn't be worth your time as you'll get brake dust on the wheels no matter what you do.
