Arrow Display unit not working! HELP!

The little display unit in my highlander is not functioning, like, AT all. I never realized how much I use it! When I turn the vehicle on, it is like grey, a lit up black colour, you know when the Highlander is off, it is a jet black screen? When I fire it up, the nav unit screen comes on all great, everything works (dash lights, etc.) tickety boo, but the little display unit, the one that is the clock, gas mileage and temperature (!) and which vents the heat is coming out of! I kinda need that to work, it just get like a lit up black colour, like light is spilling over onto the black from somewhere else. Does anyone have ANY clue as to how to fix this? I am hoping it is a fuse (heaven help me there, I can't imagine the tangle of fuses in this car!) my hubby works overseas so I am kinda going it alone here right now and I am not about to take it in for a 10 dollar fix that will cost me 200 in labour that I can do myself!

Thanks in advance!
Becks

p.s. I LOVE my Highlander!! I want it to work correctly!

Actually, that was the first thing I did, I toggled it and then thought that sometimes you can reset some electronics by holding in the switch, so I held in the toggle switch and nothing, the screen stays black (well, the lit up grey colour) there is no information on it at all, it is completely dead, like it is unplugged but a light is shining from the nav or back console and spilling onto it to make it look a little brighter. There is no display. I have also tried shutting the Highlander off and just pressing the button so it is in acc mode (car is not running) and there is no difference, the screen is dead in every mode. ARGH, I hope someone can help me!

WOW with all the electronics in this vehicle it could be scary!

Someone??? HELP!!

You could try removing the positive battery terminal from the battery to effectively disconnect power to your system. You may lose some presets in doing this, but it may be worth a shot. Alternatively, is it still not under warranty? If so, just get Toyota to take care of it.

I would let the dealer fix it under warranty while your 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty is in effect.
