Question Windshield Replacement

So, a softball sized rock flew off an overpass today and smashed my 2010 Highlander SE's windshield.

Any ideas on replacement cost?

Aftermarket vs. Dealer factory?

Thanks.
Joe

I replaced mine due to rock breakage. My insurance deductible is $250 (thank goodness). Aftermarket made in China glass is about $375-500 with windshield heater (depends on which generic brand). What an oxymoron. Dealer glass is $1200 with windshield heater. I got the insurance to pay for the dealer glass which they did not want to initially. I have Allstate.

This does not count against you in a insurance claim though you may be limited to how many windshield replacements you may claim during a specific period.

Oh and I forgot to mention that the replacement glass, even factory Denso, does not have that slick rain repellent coating on the replacement ones. I don't know if it was applied like Rain-X from the factory or coated in the forming process.

Joseph, whoever you have put a new windshield in make sure to tell them about the rattles that so many HL owners have, and see if they can place shims in, better seal, whatever, to ensure you don't have any windshield related rattles. An ounce of prevention.....

Great information all around! Thanks you guys!

I have Allstate as well, so hopefully they will cover a factory replacement.
