Will remove oil filter drain all the oil?

I am planning to use Amsoil and would replace oil filter at 5K miles (the oil can be used to 10K miles ... it is actaully good to 25K miles or a year).
So does remove oil filter in HL would drain all the oil? I know other car would not ... but not sure about 08+ HL.
Thanks,
-Mike

Hi Mike,

Take a look at the How To Perform An Oil Change link in the DIY Modifications & Maintenance sticky, which states the various amounts of oil needed when performing either an oil change with no filter change, an oil change with filter change, or a dry fill. Nominally you're looking at about a quart less of oil needed compared to a dry fill.

The oil is only as good as the UOA proves it to be.

I'd still change it every 5k/6months regardless of what the bottle says. Don't fall for the label's marketing gimmicks.

The cost of a used oil analysis is pretty close to the cost of a do-it-yourself full synthetic oil change. Guess which I'll gamble on?

And, changing the filter just drains its capacity. To drain all the oil, you need to remove the pan's drain plug.

No - you will lose a little - just check with dipstick after filter change.
