I love the highlander for the exact opposite reasons. I love the lack of chrome pieces on this truck. more sporty looking

I have the logo inserts myself. They are not chrome like described but more of a smoked silver. My Sequoia logo is recessed as well and I got them for it but had them painted to match the color of the car so they pop a bit. The one on the HL isn't flashy but makes the Highlander name pop a bit more than just having it recessed. Easy to leave as it comes (which I did) or color match to color of car.

I have always believed that one of the first places for rust to start is behind items applied over a cars paint.

You have a valid point:

But is this not the same way where factory installed (more appropriately 3M tape stuck) chrome accents on the handles, mirrors, etc done??

Personally I like the stealth look and least bling.
