Question Anyone replaced the stock JBL system speakers?

Hey Guys,

I just bought my 2010 HL Sport last weekend. I got the JBL without NAV. I'm not very impressed with the system. It seems to have a high spot around 500-1000Hz and a hole in the 120-500Hz range. I've tried adjusting the controls, but I think it's just the crappy speakers. Right now I have the controls set at:

BASS +1
MID -2
HIGH +2

That seems to help, but the bass is punchy and there is definately still a hole in the mid bass. I saw a thread about adding insulation to the rear door to help smooth out the bass. I might try that this weekend.

So , have any of you tried replacing the stock speakers but leaving the factory head and amp alone?

BTW: Our Sienna has the JBL Synthesis system in it and the sound is great. I can't believe that 5 years later that they got it so wrong.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, I agree, I think the "premium sound system" in my higlander is average at best. I have a jeep patriot company car and the factory premium sound system blows the JBL system in my higlander away. my highlander is only 3 months old and I am not crazy about tearing into the doors just yet. Not sure if all four doors need acoustic foam added or if the spearkers themselves need to be swapped out.
Anyone have any thoughts?
