Hi. I just bought my first Toyota - a 2008 CPO Highlander Hybrid LTD. When I switch radio stations, an information strip appears at the top of my navi screen. It shows the radio station call letters, dial location (97.5), the artist and the name of the song. Unfortunately, within a few seconds of the channel change, the information disappears & screen reverts to navi map or engine performance info. I would like to LEAVE the info. across the top of the screen, but can't get it to stay.
I read through the forums & found two possible solutions - neither of them worked for me. One was to look for a setting on the Navi "MENU" (Menu/setup) for auto revert - nothing there. The other was to go into Info., screen settings and turn off "automatically transition from audio to map." I did that trying it both "off" and "on." I can't see any difference and neither one keeps the information strip on display. I have a factory-installed AM/FM/CD changer with Navi & back-up camera - no satelite. Does anyone know hot to set this so radio station and song name & artist remain on my screen? THANKS!
The only thing you can really do is to turn automatically transition to off, which means it will stay on the screen you select, not always go back to the map, then you need to go to the radio screen (push the right knob in to go to the radio preset screen) no it will stay on the screen and will show the info on the preset button and at the top.
The really big gotcha is that Toyota wants to be your Mommy and make sure you don't hurt yourself, so the info display showing the song and artist etc will stop working once the vehicle is moving, so you see it for a second when you switch and then they turn it off. If you push the info button it will tell you the info is not available until you stop. I have the nav override and if I override the nav, it overrides the speed sensor and then the data shows up (but nav is confused).
All in all, Toyota has the worst Nav in the world and I will be unlikely to buy another Toyota not because it may accelerate uncontrolably and kill everyone on the planet, but because the Nav sucked 5 years ago and if it isn't significantly better when I am looking for a new car and the nannies are not removed like every other nav in the world, then I am looking somewhere else!

if only they spend all their research and nanny control on the brakes instead of the gps, they wouldn't have all these recall and everyone will be a little bit more happier with the gps.

Thanks - this is not what I wanted, but is, at least, a happy medium. I didn't even realize I could take these steps to get my 6 pre-selected stations to remain on display. Not what I wanted, but much better. Wonder if there's any chance the new Navi DVD allows this function? Thank you everyone who took time to reply to my question!

Generally the new Navi DVD doesn't update any functionality, so I wouldn't expect it to help. My RX350 had a little LCD screen below the NAV that worked a bit like the little highlander screen, it would display temp in climate mode and radio info in radio mode (not as integrated with the nav screen), which was nice as it would display the radio/MP3 info on that screen and the nav screen would stay nav.
