Painting foglight surround on a Base

I think a cheaper alternative to installing foglights would be to paint it body colored so it blends in with the car, anybody tried it?

I thought about doing that on mine but nixed the idea. I thought it would not provide enough contrast to the front end and give it a "monotonous" look. At least that was how I felt about it.

There is a thread on modifying factory bezels

DIY: Modify factory bezels

I didn't mess with it though and got factory painted bezels from the dealer instead.
