Windshield Wiper Problem

This past winter when we has substantial snowfall, the "other" driver in the family tried to clear the windshield with the wiper blades rather than with the snow/ ice scraper. The result was that the passenger side wiper blade now spins freely. Twice now I've re-tightended the nut and twice it's come loose.

I've heard that after it's "stripped" you need to replace the entire wiper arm shaft not just tighten the nut. Any experience w/ similar matters here?

Take off the wiper blade arm and see what is stripped.

If you are lucky the the blade arm is made of a softer material than the stud it sits on and you may get by with only replacing the wiper blade arm.

Got my fingers crossed

I had this problem with my old HL, my wiper blades froze and broke something they called a "linkage".. it was $200 to replace. I never turn on my wipers unless the windshield is clear now!
