Just signed the paper work on a new 10' SE and to my surprise Toyota has eliminated the 19" wheels and gone to the 17" on this model.
When I asked the sales monkey, well he pushed the "you'll save on tires" line. Of course, I busted out laughing and gave the dude a free pass. The part that really twisted me is that the Toyota site and brochures make no mention of this.
Does anyone know why the change? Since I am yet to receive the car, should I put the dealers jewels in a vice and demand my 19's?
Hey, at least I got the 0% financing. To bad that it's my wife's car.....

to Toyotanation. On the 2009 models, the 17" were standard on the Base model, where the 19" were standard on the Sport and the Limited. I believe that is still the case with the 2010 models, with the SE model being a step below the Sport model and only coming with 17" tires. If the 19" tires are that important to you, you could probably find someone on this forum to swap with.
Hope this helps.

I would LOVE to swap a new set of 19" Limited wheels/tires with someone for your 17s - I'm in northwest Arkansas and would be willing to drive a little distance, but not all the way to Florida. If anyone in this part of the country is interested please send me an e-mail to timernst@timernst.com. Thanks!

17" wheels and tires will keep their cost down. It will also tend to ride a bit softer and handle a bit softer as well.

Aspen 3, I'm waiting for the dealer to locate my new SE. I'll keep you posted and we'll chat further about the trade.
Jeffs3820, thanks for the tip. I did consider this, but my wife will be doing most of the driving and she's a "stay @ home mom" so no long rough commutes on I-95.

They aren't yours because you never had them to begin with. The Sport and the SE are two completely different packages. If you ordered a Sport it would be a different story, but the SE never came with 19's.
The Toyota website has 17-in. 6-spoke alloy wheels with machined-finish, P245/65R17 tires and full-size spare tire on alloy wheel listed for the SE and if you go to build one it shows the 17's.
I have 19's on my Sport and they are the biggest pain in my ass. 17k and the tires are shot and I have 2 choices on what to replace them with. I find with my 17's on my HL handles a whole lot better and tires are a lot cheaper. Toyota picks uncommon size rims for their Highlanders, I had the same problem getting snow tires for my last one!
