Questions about options/car for sale on craigslist
Someone has their highlander for sale on craigslist in my area because they have military orders and can't take it with him. Anyways, its a 2010 Sport 4x2 with the following: Sport Extra Value Package #5 (rear climate control, JBL sound, disk changer), leather seats, towing package, backup camera, and color keyed lighted running boards.
My question is, when pricing on edmunds/kbb I did not find the options for running boards and backup camera, so are these usually hard to find on a highlander? did this person custom order to get these options.
I am asking because he is wants 32,000 for it and it has 2,300 miles (apparently he says the sticker price was 35,578.00) but there is no way of knowing what he payed. I think that price is high especially when you can find an SE trim for 32,000 brand new...what do you all think it is worth, I was thinking 28-29000 for it
Keep in mind you can get a new one with 0 financing so you are passing that up for this, use that as negotiating power until april 5th at least when that runs out.
I was watching hybrid highlanders via craigs for the longest time but the resale prices were just too high to justify not buying new. with the march incentives we went ahead and pulled the trigger.

Please beware!!! I have seen similar messages like 'i have been deployed militarily and cant take my car with me' only to find out they were scams. Please be extra careful.

The back up camera is standard in the Sport, Limited and Hybrid so there is no adder for that in Edmunds. The TMV you get should reflect all of the standard features that are included.
As far as the running boards, I wouldn't think that would add much to the price
I would go with whatever Edmunds is telling you is market pricing, but do look at the 0% as that is a great deal for new
You can't even build this on the Toyota site anymore...all Sports are now 4x4. However, 32K seems reasonable for the low miles. If the Sport configuration is right for you, and you can't get this configuration anymore, seems reasonable. You have to make sure this one wasn't wrecked and then repaired...look for matching VIN labels on the inside of the front fenders...

Thanks for the heads up about the scams and the camera being standard...I was looking for a highlander for the wife, we were trying to decide if we were going to purchase some time this year, but with prices like that for used we should just buy new and get exactly what we want (we really are not ever going to tow anything and don't really need the running boards). I am actually trying to buy a Camry right now, my car needs replacing more than hers. She actually loves the Cypress Pearl color but I was told that they were doing away with that color after this year. Anyways, thanks for the help I think I will pass on this one.
Quick question though, is the sport trim on the highlander similar to the SE trim on the Camry (the camry has the sports tunned susp and drives like a sports car). I can't see how the highlander can drive sporty..I probably just need to drive the base and sport to see.
