Rough ride on Bridgestone 245/55/19 on a SE?

Hi all,

I just picked up a set of OEM 19" wheels with a set of Bridgestone HL400 245/55/19 tires w/ 8/32 tread depth for my 2010 HL SE. There aren't any bends in the wheelsand the tires aren't unevenly worn, but once I got them mounted and balanced today and started driving away from the tire shop I immediately noticed that these tires are way more harsher than the 17" Base TOYO tires I had on. I now can practically feel every bump in the road and the ride is now more stiff/bumpy and not smooth with a decent amount of increased road noise now coming into the cabin. Is this normal behavior?

I've tried adjusting the PSI levels from 30-35, which didn't help so any other ideas on how I can get the ride smooth again? I can't imagine the Limited/Sport models feeling this rough.

Its hard to say...
Everyone has his/her own definition of "rough".
I've driven both base and sport model and I perfer sport because the 19" does give you some "road feel" but yet, nothing too harsh or too rough or even too loud in the cabin.
But if you perfer a smoother ride, of course those 17" will feels like riding on clouds compare to 19".

Remember, the overall diameter of the 19" and 17" tires that you are comparing are the same, which is why it was a simple switch. So, that means that you just lost an inch in radius of the sidewall of the tire. Considering that the sidewall is only about 5 inches. You just lost 20% of your cushion. What you did get was better handling, and perhaps a better "look".

I wish you were closer. I would be happy to purchase your 17" wheels and tires.

Cars that come standard with 19" wheels might have softer springs. My Limited has a real soft ride with the 19" wheels...

The bridgestones are notorious for this and for quick wear. I have them on my 2010 and my buddies at Toyota tell me not to expect much from them.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think i'm getting used to the ride at 30 PSI. For now I'll just ride on these for a year or two and switch them out with a set of 255/55/19 Alenza's. Good thing i'm not into these wheels/tires too much.

I have a set of 17" from a 2007 HL for sale for $400 in Maryland
