Tool for removing oil filter housing?

In the middle of changing my oil. Read the sticky DIY and watched the video. On the oil filter housing it looks like a ratchet extension to remove the first screw? The second one to remove the complete housing what is that tool? Looks like a tool that goes over the housing and using the ratchet extension to remove it? If I'm correct where do you get that tool?

Its just a regular oil filter cap wrench. I forget the size, but for some reason I want to say its like 64mm or something.

64mm it is..
Most the time on mine when I try to loosen the housing drain plug the housing turns loose. I gave up doing the drain the housing thing and just spin the housing loose and let the oil drain into the oil container and clean the housing before reinstalling.

I am told most Toyota QuikLub bays don't do the drain the housing routine and just spin the housing off.

Thanks Nov and Summer. I went to local O'Rielleys and bought 3 different sizes and none of them fit. One is close and I was able to get the housing off but it did slip when I was loosening and tightening the housing but was able to get the job done. I do need to get the 64mm size though. Thanks.

Most Toyota Parts departments carry the 64mm size.

I bought a wrench from Walmart for maybe 3 bucks. It has two sizes / grooves. The outer groove is 66mm and the inner groove is 64mm. The way the housing is shaped I wasn’t able to push it in far enough to reach the 64mm groove and it would slip. I ended up cutting off the outer 66mm groove and it works well now but the modification was required so I’m not sure I would recommend it.

I have also used a 3 leg type wrench like the one on this link. It got it to work, but it doesn’t fit very well.

As previously recommended, the Toyota parts dealer might be your best bet for the tool.

I don't loosen the drain cap either. I tried it the first time but found it was easiest to just remove the entire housing.

If the picture is accurate, that is the same tool I bought from Walmart and had to cut off the first 1” in order for it to work. The first 1” of the tool is 66mm and second 1” is 64mm. Many times the pictures are not correct in e-bay so maybe the one you get will work. Mine works great after the modification. Good luck!

I e-mailed the seller to check. Thanks for the heads up.

The seller indicated it was a 64mm only size and the picture was an old one and not the actual part.

I received mine today. And, yes, it is a single size 64mm cap wrench. Thanks for the link.
