Gearstick tough to release from "P"

Hello,
Does anybody else have this problem?

I push the parking brake all the way so the car will not roll after tuning off the engine and removing my foot from brake pedal , however shifting from "P" to "D"is not always smooth next time that I start the engine. Gear stick is kind of stuck in P so it takes some effort to relieve.

Thank you for your help.

Are you parked on an incline? That will do it..

When do you shift into "P"? Before you take your foot off the brake? If so, there is likely a bit of roll back that is being felt by the transmission. Try stopping with the brake pedal, then apply the parking brake, remove foot from brake pedal and then go into "P" after any movement has stopped (if you are not already doing it this way). This is just a guess that there must be something binding the transmission and likely caused by some movement after going into Park. Then when you start up, keep foot on brake, take parking brake off and then shift from "P". I assume you must park on an incline.

Peter

You know, In any parking location whether inclined or flat this happens on&off.

From you guys feed back apparently that is not an epidemic case so I 'd better have that checked.

Cheers,

Before you place it in Park, set the emergency brake, then shift into Park. Then see if the problem goes away. I bet the vehicle is rolling and you don't even know it. Since there is no linkage anymore, then there is nothing to adjust, its all electronic!
