Trunk rack for the Highlander??

Hi Guys..
Seems like the factory hitch option to add to my Highlander is quite expensive. So was wondering if anyone has had any experience using a trunk rack for their bicycles on their Highlander? Curious as I would like want, but seems like the spoiler on the top of the rear glass sticks out too much to do one.

Was wondering if anyone has this setup or any open thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Worse case scenario, just stick the bike into the trunk...

I never installed a trunk mounted bike rack on the Highlander but I'm sure there is a way to make one work if you were motivated. I don’t like the fact that you can’t access the rear hatch door when you have the rack on and they take too long to install. I have a hitch mounted rack and it much more convenient.

You can buy an aftermarket hitch for $165 delivered to your door. You don’t need to install the wiring if you are just going to use it for a bike rack. I have one from eTrailer and am happy with it. It may not hide behind the bumper and look as good as the Toyota hitch but it still serves the same purpose for 1/3 of the cost.

I also have an aftermarket rack on my Highlander. I also use a Thule T2 rto carry my bikes. This way nothing touches the vehicle, and the risk of damaging it is reduced to almost 0.

I have the same problem. Did you think of removing the spoiler and using a trunk rack ?
I hate to break the bank for buying a trailer hitch and then a bike rack...looking north of $250 +

I saw one in a bike mag that uses suction cups. It apparently holds 200 lbs from memory.

And check out this shot of the geezer on his mtb on his car:
