i purchased similar set of lights for my hilux, as the factory switching is done through the indicator stalk the switch wiring is in the loom in the steering column. the only was i could see to tap into the factory wiring was to remove the steering wheel and was not really keen with the air bag being in the wheel.

All the wiring is factory installed to the lights and relay in the engine bay. The Fog light relay already as a constant 12v positive supplied to the coil and only needs a switched 0v to operate it. I tapped into the negative of the coil in the fuse box and ran it through through the switch supplied with the lights to a grounding point on the cabin.

The only part of the supplied loom i used was the connector for the switch.

Let me know if you need more info and i can try to give you the pin out info on what wires to use in the fuse box to activate the coil. I cant quite remember but i think i had to modify the wiring to make the Led illuminate in the new switch when the fog light are turned on.

Like many people in this forum, I also have a base model 2008 Highlander, to which I'd like to add after market fog lights. I've purchased the same lights as above from eBay and completed the installation on the bumper so far. However, before I attempt to cut the wires on D13 and connect to the swtich (as you've done), I'd like to get answer to a few more questions , as below:

1. Before I pull out the D13 connector and cut the wires, is it necessary to disconnect the battery of the car?

2. Are the grey and orange color wires currently connected to anything? Hopefully cutting them and connecting them to the switch will not have any unexpected effects, such as warning message or lights?

I know your posts have talked about all the details, but due to my limited knowledge of car electric, I still think I must know this before I start - I really don't want to mess up things in the middle of work!

Your answer will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your confirmation, Lucky777! I finally completed the project, and now my fog lights are working perfect! Indeed the two wires (grey and orange) on connector 13 are connected to nothing as the there are no pins inside the harness.
Thanks again!
