Okay, this is the second smart phone I've owned that won't work with the bluetooth installed with the factory 6 CD radio...but both of the phones works fine with my wife's Subaru. Before I call the excuse Toyota calls Customer Service has anyone successfully linked a Droid X or any Android based phone with the stock radio?
Thanks,
TrailDust,
I searched in the Audio forum section and found nothing useful... Since different radios are used in different models I thought this post "fit" best here....
The one thing I found with the Motorola Droid, I was making things more difficult than they are.
I can believe that as it took all of a minute to link up to my wife's Subaru... This ain't rocket science nor even particularly "high tech"... But with the Highlander it eventually times out and fails on every pairing attempt... Thanks for the info...
Might try changing the password..Setup, Phone setup, Change pass key...
Some phones are locked in to certain pass keys.
I think Nokia requires 0000
The latest and greatest Droid may have similar issues.
And as I also have an 2010 Outback the Subaru system works great and the sound incoming and outgoing is better than my 08 Highlander with the HK system
The only thing I wish on both systems is that they would move the Select Phone command to the top of the tree. The Setup, Phone Setup, Select Phone is a pain in the ass to switch phones.

Got It! I had to reset the timeout value from 60 seconds to 120 seconds on the phone to prevent it from timing out to soon on the Highlander. I knew it wasn't the phone as it worked with the Outback...in about 15 seconds! It appears that a Outback is light years faster than a Highlander, at least on Bluetooth pairing
Summerwind,
Our Outback is a 3.6 Limited with the factory Navigation System so selecting phones is a touch menu choice rather than voice mis-recogintion. And I agree it definitely does sound better in the Subie than the Toyota.... There is a lot more cargo space to echo and rumble in the Highlander....
I have Sienna 2011. Just got brand new Droid X - paired ok (on other occasion I had an issue when tried to pair Droid as the Bluetooth player - IT'S NOT WORKING, NEITHER it did work with my previous Palm Centro as such (i.e. blue tooth mp3 player).
I have one big issue though : when incoming call is routed to my radio, it shows CALLER ID, yet the only ringing is phone; NOT RADIO... really really to bad!! Ideally I'd hear the radio ringing and caller id so if my phone is far away or in my winter coat I can hear the incoming calls. Please let me know if there is any setup so the Sienna's radio rings. Thank you!
I pair phones with the Bluetooth on a daily basis at the dealership. I have had more problems with the Droid X than any other phone. Most of the time I can't get it to work properly....paired, yes, but that's about it. Even with Navigation based Bluetooth it still will not work.
Toyota develops their Bluetooth technology a year before the car comes out, so I'm thinking that the Bluetooth system is "outdated" for the Droid X. Subaru is more on the bandwagon with this than Toyota is...

Just got a Droid X about a week ago and paired it with no problem to my 6disc 2009 sport (no nav). I actually love the droid on the highlanders bluetooth....there seems to be little or no lag time when in a conversation. My previous phone was a samsung impression and I had to wait about 2 seconds after someone finished talking on the other end so they could hear me clearly.....was a hugh pain!
I also have a Droid X and it works perfectly with my HH. I have never had an issue pairing and the speakerphone works great. Address book transferred perfectly.
FYI, I have the Nav system.
