USA Wheel Bearings

Anyone else had to have a wheel hub assembly (front or rear) replaced? I have a 2008 HL with 32,000 miles and the bearings were shot on in the right rear wheel. Luckly, I was still under warranty but if not it would have cost me $598.00 to fix (at the dealership). Seems pretty early in my HLs life to have bearings go out.

We've had a few bad bearings reported, such as in this thread.

I don't think this is terribly out of the ordinary, I have seen almost any brand have the odd premature bearing failure - most last the life of the vehicle, but some here and there are either a manufacturing defect or contaminated with dirt in some way etc. Replacement will be a little higher on an AWD vs a front wheel drive, especially on rears - a Camry rear would probably only cost $300 installed as there is no axle to deal with and the hub is much simpler.

I understand these things happen. But I had a rear wheel bearing issue and hub replacement on our 02 RAV 4 when it had 22,000 miles on it. Just wondering if this is a Toyota weakness.

Thanks for the comments.
