OEM Fog Light install question

Hey guys,
I just purchased some OEM fog lights off of ebay to install in my wife's 2010 highlander. I have installed fog lights before in my car (scion tc) and that was a piece of cake. I'm running into a couple of problems in my base model. I know the base model has it already prewired in the engine bay and I know where the fog lights hook up. No problem there. The problem I do have is where the relay and fog light switch hooks up to in the actual vehicle cabin. This is the actual kit I bought from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-09...Q5fAccessories
if the link doesn't work I appologize, just let me know and I'll show you a better one. It comes with everything and says that it hooks up to the factory mountin points. I just need to know where these mountin points actually are. If anyone can help please post. Thanks!

You'll probably want to read through this past thread.

That past thread really doesn't explain anything where the factory parts are located. It just states that yes it is there and this is how he did it when he did it his own way. I have the wiring to do it like he did. But i dont want to have to fish a wire from the cab to the engine bay. I was wondering if I can just buy a fog light switch that will connect to the factory wiring since he said the wire and relay are already there.

It was worth a shot. Hopefully someone will be able to clarify that for you.

Thanks. I've been reading alot and finding bits a pieces but now I think I'm running into a relay problem. I know my base model comes with the fog light wiring but is there no relay installed? I'm using the factory wiring way. I do have a relay from the kit i bought...should i use that and if so where do i put the relay at? Anyone?

relay position

The factory relay (if installed) should be located in the instrument panel j/b assembly (fuse block), under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. The relay itself should be on the side facing the drivers seat and on the left most end (nearest the door). You can just see them by looking up between the dash and fuse block. Getting to them is another story. I just looked at my 2010 base. I do not have factory fog lights and there doesn't appear to be a relay in place. I have four of a possible 5 along the bottom row. Left to right (door to steering wheel) there should be Fog, Tail, Acc, Pwr and IG1 relays.

well, to start, you did NOT buy oem fog lamps. far from it. the relay is wrong, the lamps are different, etc.

Everything you need to wire the aftermarket lamps up is in the thread that traildust posted. Read a bit closer and you should find what you need.

I figured it all out...Rewired the fog lights with a relay and they work great. It took some time finding a place for the wire to go from the cabin to the engine bay but I just used the hood latch cable and everything looks clean. My highlander was wired for fog lights however it does not come with a relay and in order to get one, you have to go to the toyota dealership and have them put one in. Thanks for all the help guys. I'm glad this project is done. My scion is a little easier to work on when it comes to parts.
