It was listed on my window sticker as a $529 option. As I ordered one without it I demanded the dealer take the $529 of the purchase price I paid.
Don't know what a dealer would charge for the part and installation.
There are after market systems but I don't know how well they integrate with all of the other computer stuff
I have never used it but if you leave the HL outside when the Portland ice age comes during the winter it might be useful

I recently purchased an aftermarket remote start /alarm super system that I will install myself.
I still need to download Toyota wiring diagram as well as any assistance in removing panels.
The vehicle wire colors for the alarm are available but I want wiring schematics if I can get them (I wish Hayne's had a manual for Toyota Highlander). Why is there no service manual to buy???
I am going to take two weekends to do this install (one to mount the major components, one to do the wiring, testing and configuration).
I may create a blog somewhere so I can get/share as much info on this vehicle as possible in one place, particularly wiring and disassembly/reassembly.
I assume you bought a system that integrates with the SmartKey system on you Hybrid and not the non-SmartKey system.
Good luck.
Yes, there is a Data Transponder Override Interface kit that basically learns your SmartKey to enable remote starting. Fortunately I will get up to a mile range, unfortunately I still have to carry my OEM remote along with the alarm/remote start FOB.
I'll check out Techinfo but I now have to spend a day hunting, downloading then go get it printed...still wish they had a complete manual you could download like the Hayne's service manuals.
Sounds like a lot of work!! I will stick with what I have...
It will be a lot of work but it will do almost everything I want.
I have a photocell that I hope I can put at or near the factory one is (mine is a dummy sensor) and run the cable behind the dash to the module. Hope the info on the Toyota Technical Information System helps me with taking the interior apart.
