Looks like they didnt rotate the spare tire with all the others so i mentioned it and the guy said they usually dont do that (after i told him there was a full size spare, which he didnt know). He also said if i wanted it done i could wait the next time around and rotate the spare in but that does not make too much sense to me since i would be at 10k.

So would it be wise to go get it rotated in, I dont mind taking it to a tire shop for that. Also suprised they mentioned both air filters as "items to watch". The car is brand new, and those items are not covered until 30k service.

It's purely a matter of opinion and money. Personally, I say no. Just leave the spare as a spare.

i had mine done but had to tell them to do it. if its in the book from toyota then a toyota dealer should do this in my opinion. Anyone else i would either ask to have it done or just leave it.

The way I look it at, if I have a $250 tire sitting there, I want to get some use out of it. Rotating also ensures the tire is ready to be used when you need it. Many people forget its there then when they need it find they haven't checked the pressure for 5 years.

If the shop used the normal 4 tire rotation pattern (very likely), simply swap the right rear wheel with the spare and you have the 5 tire rotation pattern. No need to wait until next time.

I personally leave mine as a spare. I got a nail in one that I had fixed with a plug patch and now that is my spare while what was the spare is now on the road. I had 8k on the tire when it happened so there really wasn't a difference in tread wear remaining.

I personally wouldn't wait 30k between changing filters. I'd say 15k max and even by 10k the filters (especially cabin filter) is nasty.

As for checking pressure, that shouldn't be a problem since the spare also has a TPMS valve that would warn you if the pressure is low.
Including the spare in the rotation has pros and cons. I don't bother with it myself.
