strange warning message: 1st gear/16 mph

I'm out of town, but my mom was driving my Highlander when a warning message came on the screen. She can't remember the 3 letters, but the first was 'D', and it told her to shift down to the 1st gear and to drive slower than 16 mph.

Have any of you encountered this? It seems so strange to me. I'll be calling the dealership when I get home, but I had some troubles with sudden acceleration earlier in the year, so I feel especially cautious when unexpected things pop up with this car.

I have seen that message before - nothing to worry about. I'll bet she accidentally hit the DAC button (Downhill Assist Control) button without noticing it. DAC only functions in 1st gear below 16 mph and can pop that warning if it is engaged outside of those conditions.
