Install XM

Hey, I was wondering How to install an XM tuner, apparently my Highlander is already "prewired" so I guess the only thing i need is to get a Tuner, but I was wondering how I can install it and what do i need to install it. If someone has a video or pictures on how to do it that would be just nice. My Highlander has the Navigation Unit and the JBL system installed and it is a 2010 Highlander.

Thanks In Advance.

If you are using a factory kit, here is a link that I think will help you out. Be patient, it is a big file.

Thank You So Much Mr. Toyopartsman. Have you actually installed one on a highlander?? I looked through it and the only thing im worried about are the airbags, i fear that if i install the XM that the airbags will deploy either at somepoint in the installation or later.... should I be cautious or afraid??

amuramoto11 - I am not very tech savvy, so got it installed on my 2010 highlander that was pre-wired by the dealer themselves. They said it was $695 including installation but got a $300 off on it. I am based in Virginia as well.

BTW, when I called XM they said my receiver did not have a 3 month free subscription! I had to fight and get it.

They pushed the lifetime subscription for $550 (approx) including some $70 royalty fee. Wondering if you all know of any other deals out there? Or is this a good deal?

I have been hearing of $399 deals, but haven't seen one for myself yet!

Thank You, TOYOPARTSMAN and luvdodo,

Well I checked the Moroney Sticker and it says that the Highlander has "XM Satelite Radio Capability (Requires a XM Reciever/XM Subscription)" ...(Quoted from the sticker) This is the one with the JBL speakers and Touchscreen Nav.
Im just wondering if I have to go through all of the steps that is in the XM Highlander (pdf) document that TOYOPARTSMAN gave me. It would be nice if i could just mount the reciever where it needs to go without having to fiddle around with airbags or pry the center console open.

Hey luvdodo, how on earth did you get the dealer to lower the installation price? If it is possible, i would like to do a self install if I can avoid dealing with the airbags and any other sensor on the car.

Well, the reason I could negotiate was because they were also desperate in selling me the 2010 model since 2011's are out next week.

I also checked factoryinteractive.com and they do an install for $100 extra, check them out if you don't want to do it yourself.

They will come to you and install it.

Keep me posted on the subscription deals please

XMSubscription Price

I renewed a few months ago for $88 for one year. I had to threaten to drop the subscription before they told me about that deal. I suggest you call them, ask for their deals, then say "what can you offer me if I tell you I'll drop my subscription?".
