I just recently got my 2010 HL V6 Base model and noticed there wasn't a V6 symbol in the rear. I asked the dealer about that and they said that, that's how the 2010 models are now. I'm just curious if it's just a 2010 thing or is the dealership BS-ing me.

I know this is going to come as a shock to you since we're talking about a dealership, but they were not BS-ing you. The only emblem on the back of ours is the 4WD (and it really should say AWD). And if you go to Toyota's website and look at the picks of the new 2011 HL, nothing's changed with the emblems on the back.

you didn't see any other 2010 base v6s around the lot? theres your answer.

They did'nt have another base model V6 on the lot so no... I didn't and couldn't get my answer that way. They did have a whole lot of Hybrids and 4cylinders on the lot that also didn't answer my question which is why it's posted here on this forum.
I was SO HAPPY when I saw the 2010's lost all the badging on the rear. When looking at the 09's I was already thinking, man I'm gonna have to do a-lot of debading on this thing if I do pick one up.
I hate badging on cars, like we need a small "TOYOTA" emblem on the back, theres a big T in the middle of the hatch telling the world its a Toyota, and "V6"? You'd hope on a truck of this size...
It looks so much cleaner now, and I only have one small 4WD badge to take care of now
Mark me down as one of the. "where is my V6" thingy? I was also surprised it was not there but my bigger disappointment was the rear Highlander trunk handle. Sorry, it looks and feels like cheap plastic. I for one would much have rather had the chrome handle that sits on some other line ups like the Hybrid and I did see a LTD just today with one. Not sure if all the LTD's have that feature but I like it. While were at it, same opinion of the painted plastic front grill.

You do realize that those "chrome" parts are painted plastic, right? After living with the "chrome" grill on the Tacoma for almost 6 years (especially where it chips off from rocks), I'd prefer if it were painted a color rather than chrome. The chips wouldn't stand out as much. So I definitely prefer the non-chrome look.
You might be able to get yourself a chrome grill if they're designed like the 1st Gen HL. We bought a chrome grill for our 1st gen HL from a Toyota parts guy and it snapped on over the grill that came from the factory (paid about $160...on the side). They might offer the same for the 2nd Gen.

Well, I kind of knew the front grill was not real chrome. I see on e-bay and places they sell chrome stick on over lays for the grill. I have driven behind a few HL that had the chrome trunk handle and it had me fooled. Looks like a heavy piece of real chrome and not the painted stuff.
I am concerned down the road, UV rays and painted plastic usually ends up with the UV rays winning and the result is a faded piece of lousy looking plastic. Maybe not so for the painted grill and trunk lid handle but I am skeptical.

I hear you on the UV rays. But I'm not worried about that because of the wax I use. I discovered a wax that I really like a few years ago (but it doesn't seem to be around except on the internet since they're always coming out with replacement products).
can be used on plastic and rubber (and leaves no white residue). I love this stuff. I already have a coat on the HL. When I did that, I also put it on my truck. The Tacoma model I have has the black plastic mirrors and so I used it on them too (along with the black plastic grill). Not only does the water bead on it, but you wouldn't believe how it takes the color right back to true black like it was brand new (it's been about a year and a half since I last waxed it otherwise they never would have faded!). And when I waxed the HL, I made sure to hit the plastic on the back along with the grill. The stuff lasts a good 6 months or more depending on whether you park outside or in the garage.

Not for use on the grill or HL trunk handle but I can say I have great results on all black plastic like the rear bumper scuff protector with Mother's Back to Black. Any black trim will really look good using this stuff. http://www.mothers.com/02_products/06108.html
Just an FYI: My 2010 Limited has no V6 badge either. nor does it have a TOYOTA badge, but it has a 4WD badge. My 2009 had a V6 badge and TOYOTA badge, but no 4WD badge.
Just to add my 2 cents here - I just bought my 2012 base FWD Highlander less than a month ago and was surprised to find the "Toyota" AND the "V6" missing. Of course the dealer was "nice enough" to add his own tag on the back of my new car, which I totally appreciate - NOT!
Anyway, no biggie for me, just thought I should mention that the "V6" tag is missing on base for 2012 as well.

Well..about a week after I got my 08 Limited home I took every chrome emblem off..lol
I still have them. If you PM me where to send the V6, or AWD, or Limited emblems they are yours..
